Company
Vergeer Holland has existed since 1934 and by now belongs to one of the largest, innovative cheese processors in Europe. The company specializes in ripening, cutting and packaging cheese for customers within the Netherlands and abroad. Vergeer Holland has branches in Reeuwijk, Woerden and Bodegraven where a total of about 600 employees work. Vergeer Holland, next to its current distribution center in Bodegraven, has started to realize a new company building where ripening, production and storage will take place.
Challenge
Because of the growth in production, an increase in the size of the organization and changes in laws and regulations within the industry, Vergeer Holland decided to switch to a state-of-the-art ERP system. Vergeer Holland’s modus operandi was characterized by an outdated system landscape, fragmentation and person dependencies.
There was a desire to support industry- and Vergeer Holland-specific processes in the envisioned, new ERP system. Process standardization, process optimization and scalability with respect to the current and future operation of Vergeer Holland have been important pillars in the verification and implementation of the ERP system. Critical processes must be supported by the system such as the registration and follow-up of indrying results and corresponding treatment plans of cheese.
Role Chainresult
To realize the above challenge, Chainresult was asked to support Vergeer Holland in verifying and implementing the ERP system. During the project at Vergeer Holland, Chainresult fulfilled the roles of business consultancy and change and project management. In this process, Vergeer Holland’s critical business processes were analyzed and documented through the creation of various control models and process documents/memos.
Chainresult transferred the project to Vergeer Holland at the end of quarter 1 2020 in view of the growth in maturity and independence which the organization has realized during and parallel to the ERP project. Vergeer Holland has acquired the self-reliance to successfully start using the equipped ERP system, which will also integrate the new construction project. Vergeer Holland and Chainresult worked toward a project handover in which preparations for the SIT (System Integration Test) were completed with a full scope of a go-live.
Expected project benefits
Cheese and company-specific processes will be supported by the ERP system so that process optimizations can be realized within Vergeer Holland. It will become easier to optimize cross-departmental processes.
Vergeer Holland will be able to register its dehydration and ripening process within the ERP in which, based on a treatment planning, the cheeses will be treated system-controlled. Furthermore, the ERP system will provide insight and control information to Vergeer Holland for the purpose of coordinating the raw material planning with the production planning, among other things. With the help of the integrated warehousing module, the logistics movements related to both inbound, outbound and production-related flows will be registered and supported.
